Bootbouwerij Vrijheid, het bedrijf van de familie Lamme, aan de Oud-Loosdrechtsedijk 190 in Loosdrecht is door Willem Lamme net na de Tweede Wereldoorlog gesticht. Dat verklaart tegelijkertijd de keuze voor de naam ‘Vrijheid’. Niet geheel toevallig werden er in die jaren ook veel zeilboten uit de Vrijheid-klasse gebouwd. In 1973 namen de zonen Ben en Gert de productie- en onderhoudsafdeling van vader Willem over. Ook werd er voorzichtig gestart met een watersportwinkel. In 1999 werden deze beide onderdelen opgesplitst waarbij Gert zich toelegde op de productie en het onderhoud en Ben de winkel onder zijn hoede nam. Gert en zijn medewerkers staan nu in Nederland bekend als een van de betere houten boot bouwers. Zo verlaten per jaar gemiddeld twee pampus wedstrijdschepen de werf. Ook het onderhoud van houten boten is aan hun vakkundige handen wel toevertrouwd.
